Recycling
Most residents have recycling pickup on the same day as their garbage pickup. The only residents that have a different day of pickup are those that used to have Tuesday garbage pickup (before automated pickup). Those residents need to call the Department of Public Works at (920) 788-7395 to find out which day they have recycling pickup. Recycling pickup is every other week, however, while garbage is picked up every week. Consult the Recycling/Sanitation Calendar for recycling weeks.
Outagamie County is in charge of recycling, however, they have a contract with Wittenberg Disposal Services, LLC to pickup your recycling. If you have problems with recycling pickup, you may call Wittenberg toll free at 1(888) 804-8556. Please remember to have your recycling placed curbside by 6:00 a.m. on your day of pickup.
Residents may put their paper products in paper grocery bags, a cardboard box no larger than 3 x 3 x 1, or a reusable container which is between 15 and 33 gallons with handles on the outside. Cardboard should be broken down to 3 x 3 or less in size and can be bundled together with twine or tape. Co-mingled glass, plastic, tin, and aluminum must be placed in recycling containers. You may purchase these containers at Outagamie County or the store of your choice. The County has 18 gallon recycling bins for sale for $6.50 each and 24 gallon recycling bins for sale for $12.00 each.
Sanitation
In most cases it is because the garbage polycart was placed too close to other objects. The polycart must be placed a minimum of 4 feet away from any object. Also, garbage must be placed curbside by 6:00 a.m. on your day of pickup or the night before. All garbage must fit inside of the polycart with the lid closed. Never place your polycart where vehicles can park. If polycarts cannot be reached for any reason, garbage will not be picked up.
The Dept. of Public Works has a new policy in regard to pickup of extra garbage. On your last garbage pickup day in the month of April, the crew will pick extra garbage that is placed in plastic bags, plus large non-metal and metal items placed curbside. On your last garbage pickup day in the month of December, our crew will again pick up extra bagged garbage, plus large non-metal items placed curbside. This does not include pickup of yard waste, branches, tires, and construction material.
Once a month (your last pickup day of each month) the crew will pick up large non-metal items; and quarterly (your last pickup day in the months of January, April, July, and October) the crew will pick up large metal items.
Appliances such as dehumidifiers, air conditioners, refrigerators, freezers, etc. that normally contain Freon require the purchase of a $10.00 sticker from the Village. Residents may also take these appliances to the Outagamie County Landfill for a fee of $15.00 each. The County will accept non-Freon appliances for a fee of $10.00 each.
