Fox Cities Reads 2014
LogoFinal.png
The library invites you to participate in this year’s Fox Cities Reads! The eighth annual Reads selection is WONDER by R.J. Palacio. This year’s selection has been on the New York Times Best Seller list for middle grades for over 58 consecutive weeks and will appeal to community members of all ages. The read will culminate with visits by the author on April 9 and 10, 2014.

This year’s title was chosen for a number of reasons, the top one being the issues covered in the story that can be utilized here in the Fox Cities for community discussion. The broad appeal of the title was also important. While the book is targeted to students it has been a very popular read for adults as well, we see this as an opportunity to engage a larger portion of our community in discussions about bullying, accepting that other people are different and disabilities in general. We hope that families will read and discuss the book together.

We hope you'll pick up a copy at the library today and join in the discussions to follow. More information about Fox Cities Reads can be found online at http://www.foxcitiesreads.org/.

Palacio’s visit will be part of this year’s Fox Cities Book Festival. Check http://www.foxcitiesbookfestival.org/ for information about the authors who will be coming to the Fox Cities April 7-13.
