National Police Week runs from May 9th thru May 15th this year and the Fox Valley Metro Police Department is making some special plans to celebrate the event.
The police department will be hosting a Bike Rodeo and Open House on Wednesday, May 12, 2010. The Bike Rodeo and Open House will run from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at the Police Department, 200 W. McKinley Ave., Little Chute.
This theme for this year is Bicycle and Driver Safety. In addition to the Bike Rodeo we will have informational stations on impaired driving and distracted driving.
The Bike Rodeo consists of helmet fitting with limited supplies of FREE BICYCLE HELMETS available for children. Officers will be conducting a bicycle safety clinic featuring bike safety inspections, and a safety lecture about the rules of the road. Kids may take part in a ride on a “chalk street” course set up in a parking lot.
Other activities include inflatable bounce house, football toss and balloon animals. Refreshments will be served.
There will be a variety of the Department’s vehicles and other equipment on display giving our citizens the opportunity to take a look at the department’s specialized equipment. Officers will be present to answer questions and meet with citizens.
We invite you to help us celebrate National Police Week by coming down to the Police Station.
This event is open to the public and is free of charge.
If you have any questions please feel free to call Lieutenant Tim Hufschmid at 788-7512 ext. 1617
